Todd Cordell: Martin Brodeur Signs Two-Year Extension, Devils Waiting On Parise

well that's good news...but neither good or bad on the parise front...either devils are out of the running or devils already made final offer and used remaining money to get brodeur back

Great to have him back. It's gotta be great for the mentality of the other players as well.

I literally cannot remember a time where Martin Brodeur wasn't playing for the Devils. He played his first game before a turned 1. It would have been surreal for him to wear another teams jersey. Great news.

Might effect Parise. I'm still leaning towards Pitt or Detroit. Unless he WANTS to lead a team. If he does, he takes a lot less money and stays in NJ. Just $$ talks.

TG said we have money for both. Obviously we aren't offering Zach the same as say Minny but im sure he wont starve if he signs it. if Zach leaves he will be a big time scumbag to me. Making us wait saying how he wants to be here yada yada yada...He will be worse the Gomez at least he never said how much he loves being a devil and then left! He told us he was pretty much gone if you read between the lines.

Happy we got Marty as i don't see any other goalies worth it other then him.

Its the waiting around that pisses me off. We could of signed a few guys to try and replace em if he does leave. Now our only options are like Semin and Doan. Oh and if he goes to Pitt or philly hes public enemy NO.1. And hey Pitt is on the same level as Philly. We just havent played em in the playoffs in awhile. There dirtier then Philly somehow too lol.

as much as i would love to see ZP on Sid's line, i do really want Parise and Marty to stay in NJ. Just as i want Sid and Malkin to stay Pens. To see Marty skate with another jersy on? yesterday they did a comparison of semin and parise's stats on the nhl channel. very similar over 4 years. but the last statement was "the difference is that parise is all character and semin has none. this should not even be close, you want parise and you dont want semin. " and the panel members shook their heads in ageeement. no one said a good word about semin's character at all. just sign parise for a small home town discount. 12yr/80M is 6.67M/yr. isnt that what he made this year (6.5M)?

I think Semin gets too much poop sometimes. He is a good player and was one of Washington's better players this post season. If Zach bolts i hope Lou can sign Semin.

How i have been feeling since i saw his interview on tsn.

Edit: At least we can take solace that our boy Marty will always be ours... Makes me feel good when i see Loyalty in professional sports it is very rare and i feel honored i get another two years two watch the best ever. This past season was his best in a few years...we had a lot of vintage Brodeur moments. Lets hope he stays sharp. The haters might not believe but I'll always believe in Martin Brodeur.
